SF related to orphan nuclear receptor ROR-alpha [1];
SF closely related to rat Rev-ErbA alpha T02747 with 97% identity in the DNA-binding and 68% in the ligand-binding domain [1];
SF at least two different transcripts expressed during embryogenesis [1];

CP (adult): ubiquitous [1]; brain [3] [1] [3].

FF binds in vitro to the DNA sequence ATAACTAGGTCA, a HRE (hormone response element) composed of a 6 nucleotide long AT-rich sequence followed by a single nuclear receptor recognition half-site core motif PuGGTCA [1];
FF however the factor does not activate transcription with this hormone response element in a reporter gene assay but functions as a potent competitive repressor of ROR-alpha which binds to this motif too [1] [2];
FF members of REVERB family seem to act in an opposing manner to the members of the related ROR family and both families seem to be involved in overlapping gene regulatory networks [1] [2];
